"Ha Ha Ha"
This was my first reaction when one of my lads told me he set up a blog. But I thought of sharing ideas with people who are interested in important things and don't care of all the media shenanigans that make our society regress. So, a couple of days ago I was laughing with a friend and it suddenly struck me: What the fuck is laughter? Thus, I started wondering and I believe some of you will probably end up laughing at my article or really understand what I'm saying here.
Hilarious, amusing, humorous, comical or just funny. These are usually the things that make you burst into laughter. But think about what role can just a smile play in a conversation, meeting or event. When moving that number of muscles I am not willing to remember, you express ideas, emotions and most importantly, a message. Boys usually smile at girls they want to have in bed and your friend has that idiot grin on his face when your crush is around. Just think about all the situations in which you laugh or smile. Some may say I'm going off topic when not talking about laughter, but let's start by analysing the source.
Is it really happiness? People chuckle, smirk, giggle or snigger in different situations. Most convey a lot by just laughing, such as joy, embarrassment, sarcasm or power. Though, few realise it and are easily misunderstood. It it is widely known that during a presentation the audience is more likely to be convinced if the speaker smiles at them. For teenagers a smile from a person of opposite sex can mean a whole new relationship and many like to embarrass others by smirking. Imagine yourself at a funeral and you remember a funny and meaningful moment with the deceased. That moment you can't control yourself and you laugh, while all the participants start looking down on you and think of you as a disrespectful person. But when you laughed, you revived that person in your mind and his memory will always be there replete with joy. I would like to talk more about the concept of death, but I prefer extending it in another article.
Sensitive or sensible? This is the mixture that makes a laugh such a salient way of communication. While being an endless source of expressing feelings, it can seal a deal or say "Fuck off". Being "addicted" to laughing made me see things differently and I am always paying attention to how people smile at me, while setting myself a rule: Never take away that grin off your face. Nevertheless, many can argue that this doesn't show seriousness, but think of the easiest way to make a friend, who can entirely change your life.:)
